For roommates

The flat is shared. The math shouldn’t be.

Rent, bills, groceries and the odd pizza: Koti keeps every shared expense in one place and shows each roommate exactly where they stand.

Sound familiar?

The things that strain a flatshare.

Rooms that aren’t equal

The big room with the balcony shouldn’t cost the same as the box room. Split the rent by exact shares, once, and reuse them every month.

Shared groceries, personal extras

One receipt, three people, a few things nobody else eats. Scan it and tap who each line is for.

Bills nobody tracks

Internet, electricity, water, gas bottles. Whoever pays adds it in seconds, and it’s split evenly.

The “I always buy the soap” feeling

Cleaning supplies and small things add up. Koti keeps a record, so it’s facts, not feelings.

Who owes whom, really?

Koti nets everything into one balance per person, so you settle once instead of chasing ten small debts.

Someone moves out

They settle up, leave the home, and the history stays for everyone else.

Example

A month in a flat of three.

Rent split by room size, bills split evenly, groceries split by item. At the end of the month, one balance per person.

  • Shares must add up to the total, so nothing goes missing
  • Every expense keeps who paid, how it was split and the receipt
  • Pay back the way you like, then record it in one tap

FAQ

Questions

Not sure how to divide the rent? Read how to split rent fairly with roommates.

How do roommates split rent fairly?

If the rooms are similar, split it equally. If they aren’t, a common fair method is to split half of the rent equally (for the shared spaces) and the other half by room size. Our guide on splitting rent fairly walks through an example.

Can each roommate pay a different share of the rent?

Yes. Choose Custom and type each person’s share. Koti checks that the shares add up to the total before saving.

What if someone buys personal things on a shared grocery run?

Scan the receipt and tap each line to say who it’s for: shared, or one person. Koti works out each share to the centime, including tax and discounts.

How many roommates can share one home?

As many as live there. Everyone joins the same home with a link, a QR code or a code, and sees the same balances. Each person belongs to one home at a time.

What happens when a roommate moves out?

They settle up first. Once their balance is zero they can leave the home, and the history stays for the people still living there.

Does Koti pay the rent or move money?

No. You pay each other the usual way; Koti records the payment and the other person confirms it, so the balance stays right.
