Privacy policy

Last updated: 23 October 2026

Koti is in beta. This policy describes the app as it works today and will be updated before Koti is published on the App Store and Google Play. We will tell you in the app about any significant change.

Koti is a mobile app for roommates to share household expenses. This policy explains what data Koti collects, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. In this policy, “Koti”, “we” and “us” mean the team that runs the app.

What we collect

  • Account. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name, your email address and, with Google, your profile picture. With Apple you can hide your email; we then receive a private relay address.
  • Profile. Your display name, your phone’s language and your default currency, which we take from your phone’s region.
  • Your home. The home’s name and currency, its members and its invite code.
  • Expenses and payments. Amounts, who paid, how each expense is split, category, date and note, and the payments between members with their confirmation.
  • Receipt photos. When you scan a receipt: the photo and what was read from it (shop, date, total and item lines).
  • Technical data. Our hosting providers keep standard server logs (IP address, time, request) for security and troubleshooting.

Koti has no advertising, no analytics and no tracking SDKs.

How we use it

Only to run Koti: to sign you in, to show your home’s expenses and balances to its members, to read the receipts you scan, and to keep the service secure and working. We do not sell your data, show you ads, or use your data to build a profile of you.

Who can see your data

  • The members of your home see its expenses, receipt photos, payments, and the members’ names and pictures. The database itself enforces this: no one outside the home can read it.
  • Third-party service providers that process data on our behalf, only to provide their service:
    • Cloud hosting for the database, sign-in and file storage.
    • An AI service that reads a receipt photo when you choose to scan one.
    • The sign-in service you choose (Apple or Google).
    • Hosting for this website and invite links.
    • Building and delivering app updates.
  • Authorities, only when the law requires it.

This website

koti.devnart.com uses no cookies and no trackers. It remembers your language choice in your browser’s local storage. Fonts load from a third-party font service, which receives your IP address.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account exists. When a home is deleted, its receipt photos are deleted too. When you leave a home, the expenses you were part of stay in its history so that everyone else’s balances stay correct, and you are shown there as “Former member”. Server logs are kept for a limited time by our providers.

Your rights and deleting your account

You can ask to access, correct, export or delete your data.

To delete your account in the app, open Settings and tap Delete account. If you still owe or are owed money in your home, settle up first. Deletion happens straight away: your name, photo and email are removed from Koti. If you were alone in your home, it is deleted with its expenses, payments and receipt photos. Otherwise the expenses you shared stay in your roommates’ history so their balances stay correct, and you are shown there as “Former member”. If you signed in with Apple, Koti’s access to your Apple ID is revoked.

If you can’t use the app, email koti@devnart.com from the address linked to your account and we delete it within 30 days.

Depending on where you live, for example under Moroccan law 09-08 or the EU’s GDPR, you may also object to some processing or complain to your data protection authority (in Morocco, the CNDP).

Security

Data travels over encrypted connections. Access rules in the database limit each home’s data to its members. The key used to read receipts stays on our servers and never ships in the app.

Data outside your country

Our providers may process data in other countries. When they do, they use the safeguards required by law, such as standard contractual clauses.

Children

Koti is not intended for children under 16.

Changes

We will update this page when Koti changes and show the new date at the top. For significant changes we will let you know in the app.
